Trucksters - PWA for Drivers

Challenge

Trucksters, a long-haul relay-based operator, needed a lightweight and reliable mobile solution for drivers. Key goals:

• On-the-road operations with intermittent connectivity (offline first).
• Real-time updates for routes, stops, relays and ETA.
• Evidence capture: electronic signature, photos and delivery status (POD).
• Secure communication with operations.

Solution

We built a cross-platform Progressive Web App (PWA) focused on field reliability and UX:

Main features

1. Route and relay management
   • Stop agenda, relay points and drive/rest timing.
   • Turn-by-turn guidance and next-stop alerts.
2. Proof of Delivery (POD)
   • E-signature, photo capture and notes.
   • Geolocation validation at delivery point.
3. Offline mode and sync
   • Route and document caching via Service Worker.
   • Differential sync when back online.
4. Incidents and ops chat
   • Guided reporting with photos and categories.
   • Communication channel with operations.

• Frontend: Vue 3 + TypeScript + Vite
• PWA: Service Worker, manifest, push notifications and background sync
• Device APIs: Camera, geolocation and files
• CI/CD: Continuous deploy
