The Challenge
The main challenge was to automate and digitize the complex manual calculation of shipping costs for their logistics network (based on the v2026-0.1 manual and legacy Ninox logic). We needed to create an internal calculator capable of instantly processing IMR tariffs, dimensional tolerances, and multiple logistical variables to return a unified budget without human errors.

- Two-Phase Quoting Algorithm
- A calculation engine that first determines the pallet typology (MQP, Full Pallet, etc.) by adjusting for centimeter excesses, and then applies the complex monetary calculation (collection, delivery, and extra operations).
- "Hub Competition" Resolution
- Intelligent routing logic that evaluates if a route passes through multiple secondary hubs (Zaragoza, Barcelona, Levante, South) and automatically chooses the cheapest one, using Madrid as a fallback.
- Server Actions + Efficient Caching
- Orchestration of the entire query from the client to the server in a single action, relying on Supabase cache to ensure near-immediate responses when generating the results ticket.
Tech Stack
- Frontend: Next.js 16 (App Router and Server Actions for fluid backend-frontend logic), React 19, Tailwind CSS v4, shadcn/ui.
- Backend & DB: Supabase (PostgreSQL to store ~19K postal zones, IMR tariffs, typologies, and hub fees).
- QA & Testing: Vitest (To ensure calculation engine accuracy through unit testing).
